Please find time to read this newsletter – it contains dates for future reference, items about school activities, reminders of school policy and invitations to events.

GOVERNORS

My thanks to all who took part in the recent nomination for new Parent Governors. The two parents who were elected were:

Ms Alison Evans

Mr James Ross

The Governing Body met for the first time this term last Tuesday 7th  October at 7.00p.m.

Charity Appeal:

Last Thursday, 9th October, the children took part in the Mediquip4kids “Get Active with Pip” programme, which included a presentation on the importance to their personal health and well being of making healthy choices.

The children have been asked to get permission to play the game and to collect sponsorship/donations for undertaking the activity and then to bring the monies collected back to school in the envelope provided by next Thursday 23rd October.

Mediquip4kids help sick and injured children in hospitals by providing medical equipment and other facilities.

Thank you for your help and support.

Morrisons Vouchers:

We are collecting Morrisons Let’s Grow vouchers in order to add to our gardening equipment – please drop any vouchers into the collecting box at the office.

Health and Safety issues:

Hot drinks:

I must ask that children do not bring hot drinks in a flask to school. It is too easy for these to fall over and cause an accident, as the liquid stays very hot.

Nuts:

We have had a couple of instances recently when children have brought packets of nuts into school as part of their packed lunches. As we have a number of children who suffer from severe nut allergies, can I remind you that we do not allow children to bring nuts (either whole nuts or peanut butter etc) as part of their packed lunches or snacks.

Thank you

Uniform/coats/PE Kits:

As the weather starts to turn cooler, please could children bring a coat with them every day (and please could names be written inside coats and uniform – we still have many items of lost property which are hard to give back to the right owner!)

Also could children bring a PE kit every Monday and leave it in school for the week – that way, if we get the opportunity to take part in any extra PE sessions, the children will have something to change into.

Opening times:

On rainy days the doors to school will be open from 8.50. If the weather is fine, children must be on the playgrounds for 9.00 when the teacher on duty will blow the whistle to signal the start of the school day.

Harvest:

Thank you very much for your kind donations for our Harvest festival. Gifts have been distributed and items also taken to the Booth centre at Manchester Cathedral. Also many thanks to Paul Schofield from Bethesda who led our service in school.

STAFF AND VISITORS CAR PARK

The school car park is for the use of staff and visitors to Park View School. Some staff work flexible hours and arrive at different times of the day, and sometimes staff need to make a prompt exit to attend training courses or visitors such as health workers, contractors, LA personnel etc have to leave at different times. Members of staff who work in Before and After School Club also have to leave promptly at 9.00a.m. and unfortunately there have been occasions recently when cars parked down the centre of the car park have caused considerable problems.

I recognise the difficulty in finding parking places but I must ask parents not to use the staff car park in a morning and at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your co-operation.
