Newsletter – November 2011

Please find time to read this newsletter – it contains dates for future reference, items about school activities, reminders of school policy and invitations to events.

Christmas Activities:

Please see the back of this newsletter for information on our Christmas activities this year.

A number of you have returned the slip requesting a Christmas Dinner for your child who would usually have a packed lunch after the closing date. Unfortunately we cannot order any more meals now as the closing date was a week ago and our cook has had to place her order for foodstuffs in early November and cannot add to this after that date. The children will still be sitting together in the hall to eat their lunches on that day.

Parent Forum:

Don’t forget, the next meeting of the Parent Forum is this Friday, 18th November, at 9.10. in Mrs McCleans’ room. Everyone is welcome.

Collector cards:

We have been having a number of problems with match attax cards and others recently. Whilst we don’t want to stop the children from bringing these in to school as they get a great deal of fun from playing with them, I must make clear that the children are responsible for looking after them. A number of cards have gone missing from cloakrooms and pockets and although we do our best to find them and return to their rightful owner, if they are very precious I would suggest that they remain at home in the future and perhaps  just bring a few to school each day.

Visiting school:

If you need to come into school at any time you must sign in at the office and receive a yellow Visitor Badge, Anyone in school without a badge will be challenged by staff as we need to know who is in the building at all times.

Children in Need:

This Friday, 18th November, is Children in Need day. This year for a donation of £1.00 children can come dressed in something ‘SPOTTY’.

PTA:

The Christmas Fair will be held on Sunday 4th December. If you are able to help us on the day please look out for a letter requesting volunteers. The Friday before, 2nd December, will be a non-uniform day when children can bring chocolates or Tombola gifts as a ‘fine’ for choosing to wear their own clothes.

Parking

Once again we are asking for your support in preventing accidents from happening outside school. I have sent letters home in the past to all parents outlining the problems we are experiencing with inconsiderate parking, but I must ask everyone to once again think carefully about parking away from school when dropping off and picking up. The police and traffic wardens are continuing to monitor the situation.

Can I also remind everyone that as darkness falls earlier in the next couple of months, please do not park in the Synagogue car park as the congregation will not be moving their vehicles after sundown on Fridays (the Sabbath).

Thank you

Teachers2parents:

The text message service continues to be successful and will be a useful means of communicating with parents in the future. Please keep us up to date with any mobile number changes as soon as possible.
