NEWSLETTER
May 2009
Please find time to read this newsletter – it contains dates for future reference, items about school activities, reminders of school policy and invitations to events.
Bank Holiday:
Don’t forget that Monday 4th May is a Bank Holiday so school will be closed. We open at 9.00a.m. on Tuesday 5th May when Dinner Money for the week will be £7.00.
Class Photographs:
Class
Photographs will be taken on Tuesday 19th May. Please could all
children come to school wearing their school uniform.
sponsored walk:
Saturday, 9th May, is our Sponsored Walk. Please come and join in the fun.

It would be very helpful if all sponsor forms could be returned to school no later than next Thursday, 7th May, so that we can allocate numbers for everyone. You can still enter on Saturday morning and collect your number then. There will be refreshments on sale (barbecue and tuck shop). We are looking forward to a good turn out on the day and hopefully the sun will shine!
Morning routines:
Every day we blow the whistle to signal the start of the school day at 9.00 and we ask the children to be on their respective playgrounds in time for this. From now on, staff who are on duty will be on the playgrounds from 8.50 and will be ready to blow the whistle on time.
On wet days the doors to school will be opened at 8.50 and staff will be on the corridors and in class rooms from that time, so children can come into school by themselves and hang their coats in the cloakrooms and make their own way to class on those days.
I appreciate that sometimes you may need to speak with your child’s class teacher urgently in the morning, but if you could try to see them after school at 3.15 that may be easier to arrange. Whilst staff are available in the morning, they will need to be in class by 9.00 to receive the children and take the register so if at all possible, call in after school if you need some time to speak. Messages about appointments etc can also be left with the school office who will let teachers know.
SATs:
Just a reminder that Year 6 start their tests on Monday 11th May for a week. Please could children be on time for school as all tests take place in the morning, and if at all possible could dentist and doctors appointments be made for later in the day
Thank you.
Dinner
Money:
Please could dinner money be sent into school every Monday morning in a sealed envelope, with your child’s name and class clearly marked on it. The children can then hand the envelope to their class teacher. Also please could any arrears be paid before we finish for half term.
Advance notice:
Dinner money from September will be £1.80 per day, £9.00 per week
PTA:
Plans
are well advanced for our Summer Fair, the BIG event of the year which
this year takes place on SATURDAY 6th JUNE. The next meeting
of the PTA is on Wednesday 20th May at 3.30p.m. in the
staffroom. Everyone is welcome – please come and join us.
Reminder about Sports Day:

Tuesday 9th June Year 3 and Year 4
Wednesday 10th June Year 1 and Year 2
Thursday 11th June Year 5 and Year 6
