NEWSLETTER March 2008
Please find time to read this newsletter – it contains dates for future reference, items about school activities, reminders of school policy and invitations to events.
Staffing news:
As you are aware, Mrs Monaghan has been off work due to health problems for most of this year and I would like to inform parents that she will be retiring at the end of this term and leaving Park View after teaching here for many years. She has contributed so much during her time at Park View and her commitment and professionalism has been of great benefit to so many children. We will miss her a great deal but I am sure you will join with me in wishing her a long and happy retirement.
Decorated Easter Egg Competition:

Yes – It’s that time of year again. We are once again holding our very popular Easter Egg Competition when the children are asked to decorate and present a hard boiled egg. Entries should be brought into school a week on Monday, the 17th March, and judging will take place later in the week. The eggs will be on display at Parents Evening if you wish to look at them.
Please could all entries be kept no larger than A5 size.
Parents Evening:
You should all have received an appointment time for Parents Evening. Please check your child’s bag in case the letter is still hiding at the bottom!
National Tests Reminder:
Please could I remind everyone that the National
tests (SATs) that children in Year 6 sit will begin on Monday 12th
May. It’s really important that children sitting these tests attend school every
day that week as a missed test results in no marks, even if your child has
already sat one of the papers.
We also use non-statutory tests with Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 and these will be starting the week before and continuing the week after. The results of these tests help us to match curriculum needs and check each child’s progress.
Thank you.
Charity Events:

Next Friday, 14th March, is SPORT RELIEF day. School council has requested that Park View join in with this event and so Friday 4th will be a non-uniform day when for a fine of £1.00 the children can come dressed in ‘Sporting’ outfits – football kits, karate kits, rugby shirts etc. We will also be taking part in a number of activities during the day linked to the ‘Sport relief Mile’.
Race for Life:
A number of the Park View staff are taking part in this years ‘Race for Life’ event on Sunday 1st June and are hoping to raise £1000.. If there are any parents who wish to sponsor the team or contribute a donation towards our fund raising, please see Mrs Plummer.
