July 2010

Please find time to read this newsletter – it contains dates for future reference, items about school activities, reminders of school policy and invitations to events.

 Staffing news:

We have appointed Mrs Tracy Bevan to the post of Deputy Headteacher at Park View. Mrs Bevan is currently Deputy Headteacher at St Anne’s CE Primary School, Royton, and hopes to visit school shortly.

We would like to welcome back Mrs Garside from her Maternity leave – she and Mrs Parkinson-Wood will be sharing the teaching of Year 2 next year.

We also wish Mrs Wilkinson all the very best for the future as she is leaving Park View to take up a post at St Paul’s, Bury, and thank her for all her hard work. Next year, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Gaskell will be sharing the teaching of Year 1 with Mrs Robinson teaching on Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Gaskell on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Gaskell will also be continuing to teach French in school on Monday and Tuesday.

                                                                   Dinner Money:

From next September there will be an increase in the cost of school meals. Dinners will cost £9.25 per week, £1.85 per day.  Please could dinner money be sent into school on a Monday morning each week in a sealed envelope marked with your child’s name and class and handed to your child’s class teacher. If paying by cheque could you please write your child’s name and class on the back of the cheque.

If anyone thinks they may be entitled to Free School Meals, you can telephone Mrs Duncan on 0161 253 5630 for further details.

School finishes on Friday 16th July and as Securicor do not make any collections during the summer holidays, could I please ask that all arrears of dinner money are paid up to date as soon as possible. It would be very helpful for Mrs Moxon if the last two weeks of dinner money was paid on Monday 5th July. If that is not possible, all dinner money must be paid into school no later than MONDAY 12th JULY.

 Thank you

Events:

Summer Fair:

What a glorious day we had – the sun shone and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Many thanks to everyone who helped organise the fair and also to all of you for coming and supporting us on the day. We raised almost £3000 which is a fantastic effort.

Sponsored Obstacle Course;
It seems a long time ago since we took part in the sponsored event – we raised £2000 so thank you for your generosity.

We now have the delightful task of choosing playground equipment to further enhance our playtime provision for the children. Watch this space!

Sports Days:

As I write this newsletter we have managed to complete some of our Sports Days – others have fallen foul of the only rain we have had for many weeks! Hopefully we will be able to fit the remaining ones in before the end of term.

School Uniform

We are very proud of our school and we do expect everyone to come to school wearing our uniform (red jumper or sweatshirt, red or white polo shirt, grey trousers or skirts or check dresses for girls in summer). Uniform is on sale in school on a number of days in the next few weeks in readiness for next year.

Vouchers

Thank you very much for all the Tesco and Sainsbury’s vouchers you have collected. We are hoping to increase our computer hardware and also order additional playground equipment with the vouchers.

Sports News:

The inter school athletics event was held at Parrenthorn High School on Wednesday 30th June and Park View swept the board, winning all four trophies. We started by picking up the lower junior trophy (restricted to Y3 & Y4) and went on to win the boys relay, the girls relay and the Sister Gabriel trophy for overall winners. A final points score of 49 was a massive achievement as the runner up was OLOG on 25 points.

Well done to the Park View Athletics Team!

May I take this opportunity to say thank you to you all for your continued support of our school and wish you all a safe and happy holiday.
