Dear Parent/Guardian.
Recently our school was subject to an Ofsted inspection, and from the attached report you will see that recognition has been given to the improvements made in many areas particularly;
Improvement in pupil’s behaviour which the Ofsted team described as “good and in lessons, on many occasions, behaviour is outstanding”.
Children make satisfactory progress although recent results show some improvement on this. Pupils’ attainment in English, mathematics and science match national averages at end of Year 6 and the team confirmed our view that pupils’ attainment and progress are improving
Good and steadily improving outcomes and progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Good progress made by pupils with Special Educational Needs.
The adoption of a healthy lifestyle made by our children.
The contribution made by our pupils to school and the wider community.
The fact that many of our children enjoy coming to school.
In order to support further improvement we are already identifying ways in which pupils can work more independently and ensuring that work set more closely matches the abilities of the pupils, especially the more able ones.
However, we did fall short of the recently introduced new Government requirements on “Safeguarding” which has resulted in school being issued with a Notice to Improve in relation to the school’s arrangements for the safeguarding of its pupils, although they ‘found no evidence that any harm has come to pupils as a result’.
Actions are already in place to address these areas which fall broadly into two categories – our school buildings and the administration of Safeguarding and related documents. The inspection team were fully supportive of our actions for improvement and felt that we had the necessary resources and capacity to meet the requirements in the very near future so we would ask for your support as the changes are made..
There will be an opportunity to discuss this report with myself and the governors at an open meeting on Wednesday 2nd December at 7.00pm. You may also email any comments to ParentsofParkView@bury.gov.uk
