ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS

Children may be registered for a place in the school at any time a parent wishes. Parents considering sending their children to the school are invited to visit the school to see the Head Teacher. No appointment is generally necessary as the school operates an "open door" policy. A birth certificate should be brought on this occasion and parents will be able to view the school, and discuss matters of curriculum and organisation. A form will be completed noting the child's relevant details. The form is a record of information and is in no way binding on either parents or school. Playground picture

Children are admitted to the reception classes in the September following their fourth birthday. The agreed admission limit for 2008 - 2009 is 60 pupil places. In the event of the number of applicants exceeding this figure the Authority uses the following criteria in determining the allocation of places:

1.       Those with brothers and sisters attending the school.

2.       Proximity to the school.

Children are not admitted on a first come basis, nor does attendance at the Nursery confer any preference.

AN APPEALS' PROCEDURE IS AVAILABLE FOR UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS.

Parents requiring nursery places must also complete a registration form, obtainable from the school. Children are admitted to the nursery in the September following their third birthday. In view of the large demand for nursery provision, places are presently only allocated on a part-time basis (mornings or afternoons only). Should the demand for nursery places exceed the limit, places are allocated using a points' system using clear guidelines which consider the needs of each individual child. The criteria for admission are detailed in the Nursery Policy Document (available upon request from the Secretary).
